Lavender Festival
The first three weeks of January in Lilydale, TAS, is the time for the harvesting of the lavender flowers. The oil from the lavender is used in perfumes.
There are other festivals located in Australia such as one in the Lyndoch Lavender Farm, which is just over 1 hour north of Adelaide, and is situated in the lower Barossa Ranges.
The annual Lavender Festival, organized by the farm's owners Evan and Jill Allanson, showcases all there is to know about this healing herb.
Visitors to the festival can learn about the differences between varieties, learn the uses and properties of lavender and even purchase some lavender goods. There are also demonstrations of lavender picking and distillation.
As well as Mittagong in NSW Australia this is held in January.
The Mittagong Lavender Festival is held at Farmgate at Statford Park, Pearsons Lane, and Wildes Meadow. This annual lavender festival is full of fun for everyone. See demonstrations, distillation and harvesting. A unique experience.
